It was confirmed today that Donald Trump was not seen on Willy Street over the holiday weekend.
There was neither any reason to believe that the President-Elect nor his First Lady-to-be would make an appearance in the area, but Spoofing Willy wanted to make sure that a big story wouldn’t get missed. After all, the business tycoon turned-celebrity-turned-politician showing up on Willy Street at, A Pig in a Fur Coat for instance, would have been a big deal. We didn’t want to miss something like that.
Can you imagine if the soon-to-be-President made an unscheduled stop for dinner and had the Wagyu Ribeye (medium rare), oxtail soup, lentils and onion sautéed with king trumpet mushroom ($40).
Can you understand the squandered opportunity had Melania Trump ordered the Scallops accompanied with a pork belly green bean, fennel, onion and butternut squash salad drizzled with a light balsamic vinaigrette and almonds ($26)?
Then, to top it all off, the humiliation of it all had we found out, after the fact, that the First Couple shared a Bread Pudding with apple, walnut, white chocolate dressed with a sweet caramel sauce for desert? ($8)
We at Spoofing Willy want to make it clear that disaster was diverted given that we were able to confirm that the scenario spelled out here did not happen, as the President-Elect and his First Lady did not make an unscheduled holiday stop on Willy Street this past weekend.
